My name is Nora Fotuhi and I am a senior at Langley High School in McLean, Virginia. I am working with my sister, Maya Fotuhi, a sophomore at Langley High School. We have signed up to work with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and help save the lives of patients with cancer. Our goal is to raise as many funds as possible over the next 7 weeks. I encourage you to join us in supporting LLS by making a donation to our fundraising campaign. Every dollar donated goes towards supporting the many facets of LLS's mission work from investing in groundbreaking research, providing education and support to patients, and advocating at the state and federal level for legislation to help those living with cancer. We sincerely appreciate your support and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for every cent you donate. 

As you know, everyone wins when cancer loses. Your support now will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers. 

Many LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic, and prostate cancers. And LLS-funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.

Specific Connection 

Unfortunately, cancer has affected our own family. Our grandfather died of prostate cancer when we were four and two years old. Our grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 74 but, thankfully, she received prompt treatment and recovered fully. Her successful treatment was in part because of the donations that provide research and treatment for all patients with cancer. We sincerely believe it is vital that we support cancer research so that we can save more lives! Our grandparents are our personal inspirations as cancer impacted them and our family greatly. We aspire to raise awareness not just for them but for all the other families out there.
