Alexa's Student Visionaries of the Year Washington DC Fundraiser

My name is Alexa Holloman and I am a senior at Langley High School in McLean, Virginia. I am working alongside my Team, Saxon Strong. I have signed up to work with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and help save the lives of patients with cancer. Our goal is to raise as many funds as possible over the next 7 weeks. I encourage you to join us in supporting LLS by making a donation to our fundraising campaign. Every dollar donated goes towards supporting the many facets of LLS's mission work from investing in groundbreaking research, providing education and support to patients, and advocating at the state and federal level for legislation to help those living with cancer. I sincerely appreciate your support and thank you from the bottom of my heart for every cent you donate.

Personal connection: Unfortunately, cancer has affected my own family. When I was in elementary school, my grandma passed away from Ovarian cancer at only 60 years old. Later on, my grandpa was diagnosed with prostate cancer but overcame it after doing radiation therapy. Sadly, the radiation caused him to delevop Myelodysyplatic Syndrome which is a blood cancer in bone marrow. They are a huge inspiration to me and are greatly missed every day!

As you know, everyone wins when cancer loses. Your support now will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers.

Many LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic, and prostate cancers. And LLS-funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.

My team and I are very passionate about participating in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society fundraising efforts and encourage you to make a contribution. Every donation means the world to us and can go towards saving hundreds and thousands of lives.

All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. They'll not only support LLS research, but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.

Thank you!

Alexa's Student Visionaries of the Year Washington DC Fundraiser

Visionaries look to the future—and see infinite possibility.
They challenge the status quo—and make the impossible possible.
They boldly imagine a better world – and lead the charge to create it.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society was built on that same vision - of a better world - one without blood cancers.

I am a visionary; I have a vision for a world without cancer, but I need your help.

This year, I’m proud to be a part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, working to raise as much as possible for LLS’s mission.

As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:

  • Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients
  • Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.
  • Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.

Please consider joining this fight by making a donation. All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!

Thanks to your support, my efforts will help ensure this generation is the last to see cancer.

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you!
