Maxine's Students of the Year Fundraiser
I am very passionate about helping LLS because my father is living with a blood cancer. He was diagnoesd with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia last year during the height of Covid. Living with cancer and a compromised immune system is hard enough but during a global pandemic, it's terrifying. As a family we were very protective of my dad and we still are. I am so proud of the way he has handled this life changing event. He is a very private person so allowing me to fundraise on his behalf and share his very personal story with the world is humbling. I hope that through this campaign, I can raise awareness about blood cancer and help make a difference in the lives of those living with it and the loved ones affected. Thank-you so much for your support!
Let’s Make a Difference Together!
Did you know that approximately every 3 minutes, someone in the US is diagnosed with a blood cancer? Those numbers are staggering! The good news is that since the 1960's, survival rates have doubled, tripled or even quadrupled. Nearly 1.4 million people in the US are living with or in remission from Leukemia, Lymphoma or Myeloma. Raising funds for treatment and a cure is critical. You never know when someone you love may be affected.
Blood cancer became personal for me last year when my father, at the age of 49, was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL). It's been a journey for our whole family but most importantly for my dad. The support, knowledge and treatment options we've learned about from The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society have been invaluable.

Maxine's Students of the Year Fundraiser
Hi! My name is Maxine Gill and I'm a Junior at Pine Richland High School. I have signed up to save lives with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and am working to raise as much as possible over the next 7 weeks. Every dollar raised counts as one vote for my campaign. The candidate(s) whose team tallies the most votes earns the prestigious title of Student or Students of the Year. Will you help me earn that title?
As you know, everyone wins when cancer loses. Thanks to your support, my efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers.
Many LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS-funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.
We really are getting close to our goal of a world without blood cancers!
All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. They'll not only support LLS research, but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.
Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support! For more information about LLS, please visit www.lls.org

Thanks Maxine for helping sponsor this fund raising event. My former college roommate has lymphoma and has been in remission for over 10 years. My father in law passed away from lymphoma 47 years ago after being diagnosed a year earlier. So, donations supporting research is making a big difference. Thank you for all that you are doing. Best regards, Bernie
