Dear Friends and Family,

Today more than a million Americans are fighting a daily battle with blood cancer, and every 3 minutes another person joins the fight. I have been given the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join the battle. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) has chosen me as a candidate and TEAM LEADER in their 2024 Houston Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, and I could not be more excited to have influence in the lives of patients and their families. 

As a chosen Team Leader, I have assembled TEAM JUST CURE IT to help me make a meaningful impact. I am proud to lead my team of twenty-five like-minded students to our goal of raising $1,000,000, getting a research grant funded in our name, and becoming the National Championship Team of Student Visionaries. We have exactly seven weeks to GET THIS DONE!

This mission is important to me because I have experienced firsthand the impact living with cancer has on the individual, their family and friends.  My cousin Odie lost his battle with blood cancer.  I lost my grandmother, Geri, to colon cancer and just this year, my mother, Rhonda, was diagnosed with liposarcoma.  After seeing each of these individuals face their fears, challenges, side effects and pain with HOPE, COURAGE, GRACE and DETERMINATION, I was in awe of each of them. Their journeys encouraged and inspired me to get involved, learn more and help make a difference so the  journey for others might be different.

All these cancers are positively impacted by the innovative research, advocacy and fundraising efforts of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has invested over $1.7 billion in research and are leaders in advancing breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics, and personalized medicine. These revolutionary treatments are now being evaluated  in clinical trials for other cancers. While there has been phenomenal progress, there is more to be done. Blood cancer continues to be one of the leading causes of death in children and young adults.

My campaign provides an opportunity to support the critical work of LLS. I cannot do this alone; I need your help. This is how you can help me!

2. Sponsor or attend the LLS Grand Finale on Saturday, March 2, 2024 – Companies or individuals may sponsor our campaign as well as purchase program ads. It will be a fun evening and I would be honored if you would attend. 

3. Spread the word – I would appreciate it if you would endorse my campaign, share my information with your friends, family, and colleagues and ask for their support. It is through extended networks that we will be most successful.
