On October 3, 2016, Michael went to a doctor's appointment for what seemed like symptoms of a lingering virus that he couldn't fully kick or maybe he was developing allergies. There wasn't anything dramatically wrong, but there was something not quite right.
After the appointment, Michael went back to school like normal. An hour later, the doctor called and said Michael neede to be taken out of school and into the emergency room immediately because his blood counts were extremely low. He needed a transfusion right away.
Michael and his family were devastated to learn after extensive testing that Michael was diagnosed with a very rare case of Pediatric AML Leukemia with Secondary MDS.
They made the difficult decision to move Michael from Las Vegas to Children's Hospital Los Angeles, where he received the best treatment possible for his disease.
Michael was called home on Thursday, March 30, 2017. He is victorious and completely healed in Heaven. Please, pray for his broken hearted family, friends and our community as we all mourn the loss of this amazing young man.
Thank you for showing such love and support to Michael during his very difficult journey.
