Dear Friends and Family, 

Hello! This is Samantha Harris, daughter of Sarah and John Harris. 

I am so grateful to be a part of a student fundraising campaign called Answer For Cancer to create a world without blood cancers. Two of my great-grandparents were affected by cancer and passed away before I could meet them.  This brought me to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) family with hope for a positive change in ending cancer. I want to help make sure that no one else loses family, friends, or themselves due to cancer. 

Student Visionaries of the Year is a student-run campaign that challenges young adults to envision a world without blood cancer and strive to make the vision a reality. 

With your donation LLS funds innovative research that results in immunotherapy and personalized medicine advances that are enhancing and preserving the lives of patients. They offer free informational sessions, individualized one-on-one support, help finding and signing up for clinical trials, and other services to families and patients with blood cancer. Also, LLS organizes tens of thousands of supporters to push for legislative changes that would expedite the creation of novel cancer medicines and remove obstacles to medical care. This campaign is three months spanning between January 26th to March 15th. In San Diego, I am a part of team Answer for Cancer with my personal fundraising goal of $700.

LLS has already had an enormous impact on medical research and patient support. For example, CAR-T immunotherapy is one of the many treatments that LLS has provided funding for developing.  It is a cutting edge technology that uses the patient's own engineered T cells to help fight their cancer and potentially has the ability to cure various types of blood cancers.
