Big Climb Houston

Dear Longhorns, Family, & Friends! 

I am very excited to share that Andrea Aargon and I have been selected to start one of the first LLS on Campus Clubs. To begin our new club strong in its debut semester, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at the University of Texas at Austin (LLS@UTAustin), we decided there was no better way than raising money and awareness for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. This is a 501(c)(3) organization that has helped more than 1.2 million Americans who are living with blood cancer. We have assembled a team of over ten officers and hope to create a bigger team before climbing 50 flights of stairs; our name is "LLS at UT Austin." If you know a student at UT Austin who would like to be involved or would like to join, you do not have to be affiliated with the University. The last time I participated in the Houston Big Climb 2022, I fundraised in honor of my dear friend, Rachel Gittleman, who was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in December 2021. She is currently in remission and is thriving as a student at the University of Pennsylvania. Her story and others, such as my Uncle Gary's, make me want to raise awareness and help others: Cancer touches everyone. It has affected significant people in my life, which is why it is important to me. I always love helping others and making a positive difference. 

My fundraising team will compete in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Houston Big Climb 2024! We recently started our journey to help LLS raise money and achieve its mission: to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and myeloma and improve patients' and their families' quality of life. On April 6th, we will climb 50 flights of stairs at the Three Allen Center to take on a new challenge while raising funds for this fantastic and impactful organization!

Our team goal is to raise $10,000 between now and mid-April. We are determined to achieve this goal, and we appreciate your contribution! Large or small! We plan on hosting a blood drive with We Are Blood, profit shares in Austin with companies such as Lucky Lab Coffee, and a surprise event. 

Aside from donations, we would love to hear from you or someone you know who is willing to donate goods or services for auction items, sponsorships, ads, or other fundraising opportunities.
