Campaign 2015
Student of the Year is a new initiative in which students participate in an eight-week fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). This Campaign will afford the students an opportunity to garner visibility in their community and will serve as a tremendous platform in preparation for collegiate and professional ambitions and endeavors. It will also present the Candidates with a unique chance to learn about blood cancer research, and help to enhance their leadership and communication skills. The Campaign will culminate with a Graduation celebration at the Man & Woman of the Year Kickoff on March 26, where the winner will be announced.
Who: The Candidates
Students are selected as Student of the Year Candidates through their demonstration of commitment to LLS’s mission. Student of the Year Candidates are local students who are interested in and enthusiastic about volunteerism, philanthropy, community outreach, and leadership.
Opportunity to learn: Mission in Action
Candidates compete to raise money, but are also afforded an exciting opportunity to learn about the research that their fundraising efforts are advancing. To see the mission in action, we will be collaborating with the LLS-funded research lab of Dr. Renier J. Brentjens at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. The Students will be able to learn about their current research, visit the lab, and have access to their cutting edge experiments.
