On September 22nd and October 20th, Cycle for Carly will bring a group of people together to sweat for a good cause. The room will be filled with emotion, love and hope that we will one day live in a cancer-free world. NOTE: As of Sept 14th, ALL BIKES ARE RESERVED. PLEASE EMAIL MEGHAN TO GET ON THE WAIT LIST: meghan.rypkema@gmail.com. To date, we have raised $20,795 against a goal of $15,000. All are welcome and encouraged to support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) by making a donation using the “Donate Now” button. Your support will help fund LLS's Beat AML offensive that is going to dramatically improve outcomes for AML patients just like Carly.
Since its founding in 1949, LLS has invested more than $1 billion to advance new treatments and save lives. Now, LLS is taking on the most daunting challenge in blood cancer: AML. For decades, AML researchers have searched for a cure for this very complex disease. Remarkable advances in blood cancer treatments have not been shared with AML patients. The standard of care for AML have remained the same for 40 years, and 10,000 people in the U.S. will lose their battle against AML each year. We must do better. LLS and its partners are setting out to change this story. Together, we will bring new treatments and new hope to AML patients and their families.
With LLS’s Beat AML offensive we are targeting AML with the power of precision medicine. This initiative has already generated important knowledge about this difficult disease and is now driving new treatment methodologies and clinical research advances.
This historic Master Clinical Trial is underway in ten leading research centers, with more than 300 patients enrolled across the United States—and these numbers will continue to grow over the next few months. Already, the pace of progress is remarkable just 18 months into the trial. In fact, after decades of minimal advancements, five new therapies have been approved for AML since the summer of 2017. All five were funded by LLS at some point in their development.
