Our Spring 2016 concert will be held on Sunday, June 26 from 7-9:30 pm at The Lyceum in Alexandria, Virginia. The concert will be in honor of the Pathologists who have the difficult task of properly diagnosing blood cancer patients. For more information on the concert, go to edcwashington.com.
A little background: In 2009, with no warning, I was thrown into a surprising and frightening series of events: being diagnosed with a life-threatening disease (in my case Burkitt’s Lymophoma) and going through the treatment. The end was a surpise as well: being fortunate enough to recover and have the strong need to help others with similar journeys.
Nobody with a diagnosis of cancer is left the same as before. The best way to describe the feeling I have now is that of being grateful: for life, for time with my family, and for being able to help others.
I decided, after having the done the LLS walks several times and loving it, that I wanted to use what I do best and believe has the power to change people- that of playing chamber music - to help raise money for LLS.
LLS certainly won’t get rich off of this humble personal attempt to raise funds but surprisingy, at our first concert last November, we were able to bring in a healthy donation with the help of our friends and family! I guess I like to think every little bit helps!
We will be performing our Annual Fundraiser for the LLS during the Spring, when there is a feeling of hope and renewal, the feeling I have every day when I wake up! The LLS has made it possible for millions of people to have that same feeling every day as well. It is a special time in the fight to find a cure for cancer and for blood cancers they are making cures every day.
Please join us in our efforts! Enjoy music, friendship and please donate freely!
