I’m excited to announce that we’ll be hosting the first Becky Hannon 5K on Thursday, May 4th! The event will feature two routes : a 5K (3.14 mile) out-and-back course and a 1 mile out-and-back course. If you are comfortable, please feel free to make a $5 event buy-in by donating to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
We’ll start from and return to the office, and will gather for a celebratory happy hour at World of Beer following the run.
For those of you who may not know, Becky Hannon was the Assistant General Manager at Mosaic. Becky was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in early July of 2014, and courageously fought through many rounds of intensive, aggressive chemotherapy and radiation. Through each portion of her battle, she exemplified grace and courage in the face of extreme adversity. Becky lost her battle with cancer on February 14, 2016, but left behind a deeply affecting and inspirational legacy.
On a personal note, Becky was one of my closest friends. We started at EDENS in the same week, sat through orientation together, and solidified our growing friendship through co-road trips to Stonefield (remember that property?!). She was one of the most beautiful, positive and supportive people I have ever met, and I miss her deeply every day.
I am excited and proud to honor her legacy with this fundraising run. I’m equally gratified to announce that this run will take place across the EDENS community!
