We all have a connection! #mypersonLLS
My husband, Tim Smith, is a Stage 3 Hodgkins Lymphoma survivor and we vowed to do everything in our power to help end this terrible disease. Help me keep children like ours, Taylor (10) and Brayden (5), from having to worry about growing up without their daddy.
"Today the only visible sign that I had cancer are some dark lines on my left arm where bleomycin tore me up. Just ask me about them next time you see me, I'd love to show you my "tracks." To see a list of side effects for bleomycin, just Google and they come right up. I ignore that data, however, as I'm a firm believer in the human body's ability to heal. We are resilient and can cure ourselves over time just as a toxic river knows how to rid itself of pollutants once you stop dumping in chemicals. " -Tim Smith
The chemo cocktail 6 months before Tim's diagnosis had a 20% survival rate, 20%! Thanks to incredible people like you, science moved forward and he had a new cocktail and he survived and thrived and we have the family he wasn't suppose to have!
I’m glad to tell you that today because of the work funded by LLS, the survival rate for patients with blood cancer has more thantripled in the past 46 years. While the survival rate has improved, our work is not yet done.
I am reaching out and asking you to join me on this journey by making a donation to my campaign. I recognize that these are tough economic times, which makes this campaign all the more difficult, and all the more important. Blood cancer doesn’t scale back in recession, but with your help we can fight back. Perhaps you have never met anyone with blood cancer, never seen a sick child or friend, or never experienced a loss…but I ask that you help me fight this disease in the hopes that you never meet it face-to-face. It steals lives, it steals dreams, it must be stopped. Every donation counts, $1, $100, $1,000 or more... all will truly be appreciated.
How can you help?
There are three easy ways to make a tax-deductible donation to help me reach my goal:
-
You can donate securely online directly to LLS here
-
You can send your check to me with checks made payable to “The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society” or “LLS”. You can put Julie Smith in the memo line.
-
Finally, if your company offers a matching gift program, just let me know and I will take care of the rest. If you don’t know, I would be glad to ask!
I am so honored to take part in this important campaign. I truly believe that together we can make a difference in the fight to end blood cancer! If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at jzsmith04@yahoo.com!
Thank you for your continued and generous support!
Sincerely,
Julie Zimmet Smith
