Students of the Year Orange County
Justin Emi
Welcome to Justin Emi's SOY Fundraising Page!
Dear friends and family,
As you may know, blood cancer is a problem. Over 58,000 people in the United States die from it each year. You may wonder what an individual can do to help the research to find a cure. By giving money to help a campaign I am part of, you can do just that. The reason why I’m writing is because my friend Blake, a fellow candidate, was diagnosed with lymphoma in 4th grade. You may also know someone afflicted by this terrible disease. However, there is hope for those afflicted. By getting involved with my Students of the Year campaign benefiting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), you can help us find new treatments and support patients who don’t have the funds to do get treatment.
The seven-week fundraising campaign from February 10th to March 31st will help people with cancer receive treatment and help raise money for a cure. By getting involved with our Students of the Year campaign benefiting the LLS, you could be a part of that cure. During these 7 weeks, my partners, Christian, Blake and I, attempt to reach our donation goal. Our team’s fundraising goal is currently at $50k. The money will go towards research for new treatments. You can donate any amount of money to help us. We’re excited to run for Students of the Year, and despite our young age, we believe we can make a difference.
This organization means a lot to me because it helped my friend, Blake, who was diagnosed with lymphoma in the 4th grade. The treatment was intensive and hard on his body. It was very difficult to watch him go through the treatment, as he was very weak. However, with the help of the LLS, Blake was able to make a full recovery.
With this letter, I hope I can convince you to donate to our cause. Your money will go towards helping to save countless lives by funding research for new treatments and patient services. Every donation, big or small, will help us. To donate to our campaign, I have set up a personal website (https://events.lls.org/ocie/ociesoy2019/jemizr). Or you can write a check to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (address below) and write my name Justin Emi, in the memo line. *Note – checks must be dated within the 7-week campaign – February 10-March 31, 2019. All donations are tax deductible, and LLS’s tax ID is 13-5644916.
The finding of a cure is impossible without people like you. Since 2000, 40% of the drugs approved by the FDA were for blood cancers. 60% of which were backed by the LLS. They helped save Blake’s life, and with your help, we can save many more.
Best Regards,
Justin Emi
Student of the year candidate
