Emi's Students of the Year Fundraiser
I am absolutely honored to announce my participation in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) 2021 “Students of the Year” fundraising campaign! Students of the Year is a seven-week, student-led fundraiser in which students compete to raise funds to find a cure for blood cancer.
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is the largest funder in blood cancer research and provides information, support, and financial help for those affected by blood cancers. Students of the Year is important to me because I not only get to contribute to finding a cure for cancer but also help provide comfort for thousands of families affected by a debilitating disease.
Covid-19 has not put cancer on hold. In fact, it's made it harder for families to travel to get treatment, see their doctors when they need them, and fight for their lives while worried about Covid-19. Thankfully, LLS helps so many families through these hard times. They pay for safe transportation to and from appointments, have so many amazing support groups for patients and their caregivers, and have funded over $1 billion dollars in research to try and put a stop to blood cancers. Blood cancer patients need us now more than ever.
With YOUR help, we can reach our goal of $30,000 to kick cancer’s butt. If you wish to make an online donation please visit my webpage: https://events.lls.org/noh/nohSOY21/euijtewaal or see the QR code below. If you wish to donate through the mail, please make your check payable to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and please send it to my home address: 31 Blackberry Dr. Hudson, OH 44236. Please print our team name, “Team Explorers”, in the memo section.
Your donations are tax-deductible!
We have to face it: cancer sucks, but ALL research against it can help find a cure.
Let’s make a difference together,
Emi Uijtewaal & Team Explorers
We can't wait!!
My co-candidates and I can't wait for our fundraiser to start! There are so many exciting things in the works and I can't wait for you all to be a part of it! In case you don't know me, I'm Emi Uijtewaal, a Junior at Hudson High School.
Along with the LLS Students of the Year Campaign, I'm involved in quite a few other organizations at my High School. I'm the Junior Class President, Junior Vice president of Hudson Community First, I'm the secretary of the Choirs, Social Media Coordinator for HHS Student Government, a part of National Honors Society, Drug Free Clubs of America, Hudson Leadership Conference Planning Committee, Vocal Impact, Chamber Choir, Girls Varsity Tennis, and HUDDLE. When I'm not busy with those clubs, I like to ski, hang out with friends and babysit!
I truly can't wait for all the exciting things coming very soon!
Let's help kick cancers butt!!!

Emi, We are very impressed that you have chosen this remarkable organization to fundraise for. The LLS has invested over a billion dollars into blood cancer research that has helped to bring transformative medicine and treatments to patients. The survival rates for some leukemia’s are now the same as the general population thanks to the LLS’s funding. They are now focusing on the other tougher to treat leukemia’s like AML by leading the Beat AML Master Trial bringing together the best Cancer Centers and researchers across the country. Thanks for getting your team and Hudson into the fight. You make us all proud. Some Day is Today!

Congratulations Emi (and all of Team Explorer!) on a successful fundraiser! So proud to know such an ambitious and wonderful young woman. Donating in memory of my mom - she passed away 10 years ago from multiple myeloma (a blood cancer). Your efforts ensure others have the best treatments. Continue to reach high!! ♥️
