Brigid's Students of the Year Fundraiser
Dear Friends and Family,
I am so excited to announce that I’ve been given the opportunity to participate in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS), “Students of the Year” campaign!
Students of the Year is a seven-week fundraising competition for high school students. It is a chance for students to raise funds in the hope of finding a cure for patients with blood cancer. The competition starts on January 9th and ends February 27, 2021. My local chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society are determined to reach our $20,000 goal with our hope of becoming one step closer to finding a cure for our friends and others who are battling this awful disease!
For more than 68 years, LLS has invested more than $1 billion to advance cancer therapies and save lives. Many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are now approved to treat patients with rare forms of autoimmune diseases. Some of these therapies are even being tested on other forms of cancer.
One of my best friends had leukemia when she was very young. She had to go through chemotherapy for 2 years before she was declared cancer free.
I can’t imagine what my life would be like without her in it. I thank the LLS for helping to find ways to cure her.
I am writing to you for your support – as it touched my family when my sisters friend passed away 4 years ago. Sarah was diagnosed in January 2017. Their Girl Scout troop who had disbanded in 6th grade got back together just to help Sarah in any way they could. They started a fundraiser to help make head scarves for Sarah after she went through her chemo treatments. Before they could get any scarves made, Sarah passed away in April 2017. My sister and her friends never had the chance to talk to with her before she was gone.
Although I didn’t know Sarah very well, it was very hard to watch my sister grieve for her friend. The troop went on to raise over $2500 to create a memorial for Sarah in our local park with a tree and a permanent bench.
I want to raise money to help with research so that other kids do not have to grieve like my sister and her friends did..
Remember, your donations are tax-deductible.

Brigid's Students of the Year Fundraiser
As a global leader in the fight to end cancer, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is committed to doing more for blood cancer patients and families than any organization in the world. Our signature and innovative fundraising campaigns like Students of the Year drive critical support for their mission – to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, myeloma and improve the quality of life for patients and their families.
Students of the Year is a seven-week fundraising program for high school students, like myself, in the Greater Cleveland area. Over the next few weeks, I will be raising critical dollars in honor of two local blood cancer survivors, Tim and Colin.
Every dollar raised equals one vote. The team that raises the most funds receives the title Student(s) of the Year.
I believe that beating cancer is in our blood. Cancer is a bully, but I am not afraid to stand up and fight. I invite you to stand with me and join the fight!
By donating, you support the many facets of their mission work from investing in groundbreaking research, providing education and support to patients, and advocating at the state and federal level for legislation to help those living with cancer. Together, we have the power, the passion and the resolve to achieve a world without blood cancer. All donations are tax-deductible.
On behalf of blood cancer patients and their families everywhere, we sincerely thank you for your generous support!
