Dear Family and Friends,

Collegiate of the Year has officially kicked off; my team and I are working to raise our goal of $10,000 in 7 weeks! Please take a moment to donate to my campaign for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Collegiate of the Year. Every donation takes us one step closer to that goal! Please help me to prevent someone from losing a loved one to blood cancer.

I started participating in the Man & Woman Collegiate of the Year campaign, with my sorority, Theta Phi Alpha on my sorority sister Brianna Weir’s team. Last year, I participated as well on my other sorority sister and a close friend of mine, Caroline Diederich Team. This year I am extremely honored to be nominated as a candidate for collegiate of the year because I have seen the amazing things this campaign can do for blood cancers.

In the past fiscal year, the Northern Ohio chapter of LLS has given $1.9 million to 1,479 local patients for copay assistance and $20,500 to 41 families for travel assistance. Also, in the last 3 years, they have given over $3 million to research at the Cleveland Clinic, Case Western Reserve and University Hospitals.

I am participating because I have friends who have had family members diagnosed and pass away with leukemia; although I have not witnessed firsthand the debilitating effects that blood cancers can have on those who are diagnosed, I have seen the toll that cancer can have on those whom I love. My grandma Sue was diagnosed with colon cancer and she fought her way through it three time. She is now a beautiful, healthy, survivor. Witnessing a loved one fighting to stay alive and beat cancer is devasting to watch and that is why I am committed to joining the fight against blood cancers!

Here is how you can be part of the cure…

My campaign to be the Collegiate of the Year is all about dollars raised and I am asking you today to join me in this ambitious campaign. I have until April 12th, 2019 to reach my goal of raising $10,000! I’ve enclosed a donation form and envelope to make it easy for you to send your tax-deductible contribution (payable to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society). Or, if you prefer, you can go to my campaign Web site and make your contribution there: https://events.lls.org/noh/coy2019/pcusma.

You can also help by:

  1. Sponsoring or attending the Grand Finale Gala on Friday, May 3rd- Companies or individuals may sponsor or purchase tickets.  It is a fun evening where Collegiate of the Year will be announced! Please feel free to contact me for further information.
  2. Spreading the Word-   I would greatly appreciate your assistance to reach out to members of your company and colleagues to share the mission of the LLS, endorse my campaign and ask for their support. It is through extended networks that I will be most successful and the ultimate goal of increasing awareness for the LLS will be achieved.
  3. Donating items- We will be collecting items for auction baskets for the Grand Finale Gala on May 3rd.

Your donation will prevent someone from losing a child, sibling, parent or loved one, and allow LLS to continue funding lifesaving research. I want to thank you in advance for your generous support.

    Sincerely,
           Paige Cusma
