Hi! I’m Anjali and I am so excited to share with you that this month I will be representing my high school, Georgetown Visitation, as a team member in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) 2024 Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign (SVOY) lasting from January 13th through March 2nd!

I decided to dedicate my time to LLS and SVOY because I want to help individuals and families battling cancer. I have family members and friends who have been deeply affected by cancer. Throughout my childhood, the importance of fundraising and donating to charity has been instilled in me and I have been able to experience first-hand how fundraising can have a direct impact and enhance the lives of those impacted by cancer. When I was younger my mom shared with me her experience as a cancer survivor and how Penn State’s THONTM has been supporting children and families battling childhood cancer. I got to meet many of the kids and families who are being treated at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center during the 48-hour dance marathon weekend. It’s truly magical to see how one person’s support can change the life of another, even when they don’t know each other. All it took was seeing the children smiling, laughing, and celebrating, to be hooked and get involved.

Now it’s my turn to be that leader and give back. LLS’s mission will do just by funding research to find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma. It’s an incredibly worthy cause and a chance to positively impact the lives of millions of people and their families. 

I am a visionary; I have a vision for a world without cancer, but I need your help.
