Aleka Frazier | Team Crushing Cancer

Welcome to Aleka Frazier's SOY Fundraising Page!

Dear Friends and Family,

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) has nominated me to be part their 7th annual Students of the Year fundraising challenge, and I could not be more excited to make a difference in the lives of patients across the country. I am proud to work alongside our Crushing Cancer team and work towards our goal to raise $150,000 during the next 7 weeks - from January 18th to March 7th.

While my family has not been directly affected by blood cancer, we are excited to support LLS because of their work to benefit the treatment of all cancers. My campaign is in honor of Barbara, my grandmother who is a breast cancer survivor and my Great Aunt Christina who is struggling with bone cancer. For example:

  • LLS funded 49 of the 52 FDA approved treatments for cancer patients since 2017. This includes breast, bone, pancreatic, and brain to name just a few.

  • Since 2000, more than 40% of the new cancer therapies approved by the FDA started as blood cancer research

  • In 2019, LLS established The LLS Children’s Initiative, a comprehensive $50 MILLION multi-year endeavor, to help children with cancer through every facet of LLS’s mission:

    • More than doubling our investment in pediatric cancer research grants

    • Expanding education and support service for children and their families

    • Advocating for and driving policies to accelerate the development of new treatments and break down barriers to care

    • Launching LLS PedAL (Pediatric Acute Leukemia), a groundbreaking global precision medicine clinical trial in acute pediatric leukemia

My campaign provides an opportunity to support the critical work of LLS in fighting these diseases. It would mean a lot to me if you would consider donating to our campaign. To donate online, or see more information, please visit our fundraising webpage, https://events.lls.org/nca/DCSOY20/afrazier.

If you would prefer to mail your donation, please make your check payable to: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and print “Aleka Frazier” in the “Memo” section.  The deadline for receiving contributions is March 7th.  Please note: your donations are tax-deductible.

Aside from donations, we would love to hear from you or someone you know who would be willing to donate goods or services for auction items, sponsorships, ads, or other possible fundraising opportunities.  Large or small, your contribution to this worthy effort will be greatly appreciated.

Help be part of the cure and help my team compete in the Students of the Year campaign.  For more information, please contact me at 202-870-0304 or aleka.frazier@bullis.org. Aleka, I'm so proud of you for working on this important initiative. Finding cures for any type of cancer needs money for research and I am happy to support this fund raising activity. As you noted, your grandmother, my sister, is a cancer survivor. My husband, Dave is not. He lost his battle 10 years ago. Hopefully with new treatments they find through research, fewer will lose. Thanks for your efforts in raising awareness for this important cause. Love you, Aunt Kathy
