I am Amit Thakrar, an 11th grader in high school. I am dedicating my time to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to raise funds for  blood cancer research. My personal goal is to raise $2,500 to help blood cancer patients. Will you help support my campaign?

I am raising funds in honor to support those diagnosed with blood cancer, specifically our fmaily's friend, Peter Faherty, and my friend's late father Dr. Al Muzzemmel.

Dr. Al Muzzammel was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia on April 2010 and received a stem cell transplant/bone marrow transplant in August 2010.  Dr. Muzzammel passed away from complications from both Acute Myeloid Leukemia and Graft Versus Host Disease (GVHD) on March 19, 2011.

I really want to make a difference to help find a cure for cancer.​​​​​​​

Many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients, but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.  

As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:

• Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients
• Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.
• Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.

We really are getting close to our goal of a world without blood cancers!   They'll not only support LLS research, but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.
