It is the first day of the LLS campaign and we are off to a great start! I am very excited to be participating in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Students of the Year program. Students of the Year is a 7-week philanthropic competition for high school leaders seeking to make an impact in the fight against cancer. Our team name is A Better Tomorrow! 

My favorite thing about science is that you are never done learning. Every day scientists are working together to understand and improve quality of life. Blood cancer especially interests me and makes me want to make a difference. Today we have the technology and knowledge to help win the fight against blood cancer. I have heard countless stories of blood cancer patients struggling through treatments and families who struggle to watch their loved ones fight against this horrible disease. It is extremely hard to stand in front of a loved one and just give support when you wish you could be doing something more to make them better. LLS is a great program which is advancing treatment and getting closer to cures that will save so many lives. Even though I am just in high school, I want to get involved to help cure this cancer and I hope you will join me because I cannot do it alone.
