Dear Friends and Family 

This year we, Harveet Sandhu and Hailey Lopez, are privileged to be nominated as candidates to lead a team (The Power of 2 for A Cure, in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) 2024 Students of the Year Campaign.  Students of the Year is a seven-week fundraising competition led by high school students to raise money to support LLS and their cause. We are writing today to ask for your support for our campaign and LLS’s mission to find cures for blood cancers and to assist patients and families as they battle leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease or myeloma. We have been given an opportunity to help others and we cannot do it without your support. 

From February 29th to April 19th, The Power of 2 for a Cure's goal is to raise over $75,000! Yes, you read that correctly, more than $75,000 in 7 weeks, which will go directly to LLS in support of its longstanding mission. We know this is an ambitious undertaking, but we know that we can achieve it with the help of our amazing friends and families.  

We are leading this team in honor of our hero, Rebeka Henkelmann, a current junior at Buchannan High School, who was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) in early 2023. Rebeka was treated with multiple cycles of inpatient chemotherapy treatments done locally at Valley Children’s Hospital. Beka finished her last chemo on September 20, 2023.
