Welcome to Freya Wilkerson's SOY Fundraising Page!
To My Family & Friends,
Two years ago I joined the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) as the Central Coast Campaign Manager. It was an opportunity I felt came to me at just the right time, after working several years in marketing, wondering what my purpose was. But it was also around the same time my younger brother Jeuel had finished his own cancer treatment. So it seems very serendipitous. With a cancer connection in my life, I know firsthand how cancer can affect a family. So this to me is more than a job, it’s something I connect with and believe has purpose in my life. Today I am the Campaign Manager for our Students of the Year campaign here in SLO County. I have the honor to be able to work with some incredible students and their families to help raise funds for the LLS Mission to improve the lives of local patients and their families. I decided to help "lead the way" in my own fundraising attemps, just like the students I work with. Helping be an example of what we ask them to do, and doing it myself ;)
I am writing to you today to ask for your support of me and the LLS’s mission in its efforts to find cures for blood cancers and to assist patients and their families as they battle this cancer. Fun fact about the research LLS does is that it not only helps fight blood cancers but also, breast, colon, prostate and more. So we are really making strides in the overall fight against cancer.
I have had the opportunity to not only make a difference in lives of people nationwide but locally too. Last year I was giving the honor of meeting a young lady named Claire, she’s a Lymphoma survivor. Her joy and zest for life inspires me and everyone that comes in contact with her. You can’t meet Claire Noland and not walk away feeling that joy she gives.
LLS is the leading force in blood cancer treatments. For instance, in 1964 a child’s chance of surviving was 3%. Today, with LLS’s role in advances in treatments, the survival rate is 96%!! I want to help continue this life saving research and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
I am dedicating my campaign to my brother Jeuel and to Claire, who I am glad to call my heroes. From February 12 – April 3, I am dedicated to raising $5,000, which will go directly to LLS in support of its longstanding goal: a world without blood cancers.
You can make a donation in any amount and mail a check payable to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society SLO to 446 Lawrence Drive, San Luis Obispo CA, 93401. Please note “Freya Wilkerson” in the memo section of the check. You can also make an online donation by visiting my personal fundraising page HERE!
Thannk you for you generous support! Together we are saving and improving lives!

Welcome to Freya Wilkerson's SOY Fundraising Page!
I am honored to participate as a team member for the 2020 Students of the Year program, a seven-week initiative in which select high school students from around the country participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I am proud to support my candidate and am raising critical dollars in honor of a young patient hero who is currently battling or is in remission from a blood cancer. Each dollar is a vote. The candidate team that raises the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named Student of the Year. Our mission is to not only raise the most money but also to bring attention to blood cancers like leukemia, which is the most common form of cancer in children and teens.
Since the early 1960s, five-year survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled or even quadrupled. And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are helping patients with other cancers and serious diseases. In fact, drugs first approved for blood cancers are now approved to treat patients with stomach cancers, skin cancers, and autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.
We really are changing the face of blood cancer!
All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS-funded research but will help provide critical information and support for patients, and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients can access the care and treatments they need.
Please visit our website often and bring friends who would also like to donate!
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support!
