Students of the Year Bakersfield
Emma Wilson | Eagle up to Cancer's Campaign Team
Welcome to Eagle up to Cancer's SOY Fundraising Page!
Dear Family & Friends,
It is a privilege to announce that we have been given an amazing opportunity to help others. We have been nominated as Student of the Year candidates for the Central California Chapter of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and we are truly honored.
Did you know that over 1.2 million people in the Unites States are living with, or are in remission from a blood cancer? In all likelihood a blood cancer diagnosis has drastically impacted the life of a family member, a co-worker or a friend of yours. Thanks to research and patient services efforts funded by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), the survival rate for these individuals has greatly increased and the quality of life for patients has vastly improved. On behalf of LLS, I would like to invite your business to join in the fight against blood cancers through LLS’s Students of the Year campaign.
Every year, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society pick a little boy and little girl of the year to be the faces of the campaign. This year’s little girl is named Evelyn, a sweet, four year-old child in maintenance from Leukemia. Having met Evelyn, we know how much the research conducted by the LLS family, due to the help of generous donations, is appreciated.
This year’s Students of the Year campaign kicks off on January 9th and culminates with the Grand Finale Celebration on February 22nd. The Students of the Year candidates will work together to raise a collective total exceeding $150,000 in support of LLS’s mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. In order to accomplish our goal we need your help!
We are asking for your support in the fight against blood cancers by making a tax-deductible donation to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). Simply send a check made out to the “Leukemia & Lymphoma Society” in the enclosed envelope. If you would prefer, you can also go to our campaign webpage and make your contribution there: https://events.lls.org/cca/bakersfieldsoy19/euptocance. With your support of a tax-deductible donation, LLS can continue using funds for not only critical research but also patient advocacy as well as helping local families like Evelyn’s with financial and emotional assistance when they need it most. In addition if you would like to sponsor a table at the finale and get advertisement for your business please reach out to us and we can set up a meeting and give you all that information.
We appreciate any donation to further our campaign as the real goal underlying this event is to bring awareness that can lead to a cure
We are happy to answer any additional questions about the event or the request. You may also contact Barbara DeMita at Barbara.demita@lls.org or 661.520.9043 for more details.
Your gift truly does make a difference, and we look forward to your generous support!
Sincerely,
Emma Wilson and Lauren Buetow
