Hello everyone!!!

My name is Jocelyn Rich. I am 16 years old and attend Pine Richland High School. I have been given the amazing opportunity to be a part of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Students of the Year 2022 Campaign. This is a seven-week fundraising competition to raise money in support of LLS starting February 11th, 2022 - April 3rd, 2022.

I have formed team Rende Strong along with my friends and family. I will be working to help raise the funds necessary to benefit those who need them. I am asking my friends and family to help us assist the efforts of the LLS to find a cure for blood cancer.  

Now I'm sure you are wondering why I decided at 16 years old to get involved in something so big. Well recently at the beginning of the school year my best friend, who I have grown up with since birth and consider my brother, was recently diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukemia, Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) at the age of 15. It has been really sad to see how this affects him and his parents. I couldn't imagine spending Christmas, my birthday, and the school year in a hospital room. Just thinking about being away from my friends and even dogs for that amount of time would be heartbreaking. Especially with the Corona Virus, it has been crucial to keep him safe and to make sure he doesn't get exposed to anything that could harm him because he has a compromised immune system due to the treatment he must undergo. I am so grateful that he is so strong and is able to stay positive. 

I have signed up to save lives with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and am working to raise as much as possible over the next 7 weeks. Every dollar raised counts as one vote for my campaign. The candidate(s) whose team tallies the most votes earns the prestigious title of Student or Students of the Year. Will you help me earn that title?
 
As you know, everyone wins when cancer loses. Thanks to your support, my efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers.
 
Many LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS-funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.
 
We really are getting close to our goal of a world without blood cancers!
