Alexa's Students of the Year Fundraiser
I currently have the opportunity of a lifetime to make a huge impact in my community and beyond. I am extremely honored and excited to be running as a candidate for the 2022 Students of the Year Program, a seven-week initiative in which select high school students from Western PA/WV participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. This means for the next seven weeks (February 11th – April 1st, 2022) I will be working very hard to raise thousands of dollars that will go directly to LLS in support of its mission to cure blood cancer and improve the lives of cancer patients and their families.
I am fundraising in honor of the strong heroes who have inspired me through their battles with cancer including my uncle who was diagnosed with a very rare form of blood cancer, Mantle Cell Lymphoma, in 2008. He endured months of treatment at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center in Pittsburgh and then received an autologous stem cell transplant which was newly developed by an experimental treatment program. Funding for that program by organizations such as LLS helped save my uncle’s life, as well as countless other lives across the country. He has now been cancer free for over 13 years, for which I am so thankful. I am more than honored to be part of this mission that contributes to finding a cure everyday.
As you know, everyone wins when cancer loses. Thanks to your support, my efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. In fact, LLS is going beyond blood cancer by funding more than 60% of the blood cancer therapies currently being used to treat other cancers as well. Each charitable dollar you contribute makes an impact and difference in the lives of cancer patients and their families.
All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. They'll not only support LLS research, but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well. Thank you for visiting my website and please tell friends and family who would also consider donating!
I am very passionate about helping LLS and hope you will partner with me in finding a cure. On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you in advance for your support! For more information about LLS, please visit www.lls.org
