Western PA Students of the Year
Kate Burke | Kate Burke's Campaign Team
Welcome to Kate Burke's SOY Fundraising Page!
It is crazy to think that we are counting down the days until our seven weeks are up! There will be a chance to win a $100 chick fil a giftcard at my school next week! Raffle tickets will be 1 for $1, 7 for $5, or 15 for $10! I am so overwhelmed with the support I have received these past weeks. I have met some amazing people and am so glad that I am a part of such an amazing intiative for such an amazing cause!
Update 3-13
BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: The Oakmont auction goes live today at 9 am! Click here to see our auction! Golf Raffle Tickets are available for the entirety of my campaign! Contact me if interested!
We've been making good progress with my campaign and I am so glad to be a part of a community that supports a cause the way I do.
Kickoff Update!
We had a very sucessful kickoff event! Our team held a Moana Movie Night at my high school, which we deemed very successful! It was lots of fun and the tiny humans seemed to have a blast, so it was all worth it! Throughout these next seven weeks, we have lots of big things planned! We will be holding a Golf Raffle, three potential prizes include rounds of golf at Laurel Valley, Nemacolin Woodlands, and Allegheny Country Club. Each prize also includes Titleist golf gear. (More information attached in the photo posted above.). There will also be a national live auction for a round for three at Oakmont Country Club, (dates will be announced later.) With any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to contact me! I am very excited for the next seven weeks as well as the future of innovations for Leukemia and Lymphoma.
Update: 2/8/18
We are coming close to the 24th! There are lots of new and exciting things coming up! Plenty to be announced on the date of kickoff! Donations cannot be accepted until February 24th, but be sure to check back to contribute!
Welcome to Kate Burke's SOY Fundraising Page!
My name is Kate Burke, I am a sophomore at Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic. I live in Mars PA with my parents, two brothers and my dog. I attended kindergarten through eighth grade at Saint Kilian Parish School. My favorite classes are English and History, (Algebra II is not my friend.) I enjoy playing softball for the school and for my travel team. I play the trumpet in my schools concert band and jazz ensemble. I also enjoy volunteering at the Parish fellowship dinners and Fish Frys.
I am very excited to be a candidate in the 2018 Students of the Year program. To give a little background, it is a seven week campaign where high school students, (such as myself) are working towards the common goal of raising money towards the Leukemia and Lympoma Society. I am raising critical dollars in honor of a young patient hero who is currently battling or is in remission from a blood cancer. Each dollar is a vote. The candidate team who raises the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named Student of the Year. I am looking to not only win and raise the most money, but to bring attention to blood cancers, like Leukemia.
A little information about blood cancers we are working against: Since the early 1960s, five-year survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled or even quadrupled. And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are helping patients with other cancers and serious diseases. In fact, drugs first approved for blood cancers are now approved to treat patients with stomach cancers, skin cancers, and autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.
We really are changing the face of blood cancer!
All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS-funded research but will help provide critical information and support for patients, and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients can access the care and treatments they need.
Please visit our website often and bring friends who would also like to donate!
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere I thank you for your support!

Hi Kate! My name is Shelly Roller and I went to PT school with your mom. She is an incredible person, and it looks like You are definitely taking after her. Thank you for raising awareness on blood cancers. My mom passed away from leukemia in 2010, and I have worked with LLS to raise funds as well. Keep up the good work! Please tell your parents we said hello. I miss them! Good luck!
