My name is Noah Mackie and I am a junior at Pine-Richland High School.

This year, I’m proud to be a part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, working to raise critically needed funds for LLS’s mission. I have a vision for a world without cancer, but I need your help.

Although I am still a high school student, I have seen the immense impact that blood cancers have on so many people. A close member of my extended family was diagnosed with stage 2 Hodgkin's Lymphoma and it was extremely hard to see him battle with the disease. Thankfully, he has been cancer free for almost 2 years. As hard as it was to see him go through this struggle, it was also very inspiring to me to have witnessed first hand the challenges my family member went through that many other people and families suffering from this disease go through as well. Unfortunately not all of them are as lucky as we were. I want to be able to help fight against blood cancers and to have an impact on the lives of many.

I am running for three main reasons:

1.  To rally our community to make a difference.

2. To raise A LOT of money to support LOCAL patients and families. I want to have an impact on the world and to help others.

3. My Dad ran for the LLS Man of the Year campaign in 2013 and won. I greatly admire and look up to my dad, but I'm also hoping that I can crush his fundraising total. Help me beat my Dad!!!

As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:

• Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients
• Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.
• Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.
