I want you to imagine hearing the three words, “You have cancer.” Sadly, this has been a reality for more than 1.3 million Americans who are fighting or are in remission from blood cancer. Almost every high school student wants the chance to partake in something that will change the world; and in 2023, I will have that chance. As many of you know, I have lost family members and friends due to blood cancer, or just any cancer in particular. I want to be able to honor them. I am very excited to share with you that I am participating in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Student Visionaries of the Year program. Students Visionaries is a 7-week competition/campaign for high school leaders seeking to make an impact in the fight against cancer. This cause is incredibly important to me because blood cancer, specifically leukemia, is the most commonly diagnosed form of cancer in children and young adults. My campaign team’s fundraising goal is to raise $10,000 between February 21 and April 14, 2023. It is a lofty goal, but I am determined to leave my mark on the fight against cancer to the best of my ability. I cannot achieve my goal alone, though; I need your help.
