Students of the Year Madison

Karla Douglas | Karla's Cancer Kickers

Welcome to Karla Douglas' SOY Fundraising Page!

Dec 16, 2019

I am honored to participate as a candidate for the 2020 Students of the Year program, a seven-week initiative in which select high school students from around the country participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I am proud to be raising critical dollars in honor of Noah Sanger, our honored hero, who is currently battling Leukemia. Each dollar counts. The candidate team that raises the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named Student of the Year. Our mission is to not only raise the most money but also to bring attention to blood cancers like leukemia, which is the most common form of cancer in children and teens.

I have a lot of connections with cancer. I have some family that lives in Oklahoma. My family and I would always go down and visit for spring break. While we were down there, she got me interested in music and taught me to play piano. As my brother and I got older, the harder it was to travel. She passed away from cancer in 2018. I couldn't go down there to say goodbye because of school. I regret not going down there to say goodbye. I miss her so much. But, with this campaign, together we can all help find a cure to cancer and make sure that no one goes through what I had to.

By donating and helping us raise money, we really are changing the face of blood cancer!

All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS-funded research but will help provide critical information and support for patients, and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients can access the care and treatments they need.

Please visit my website often and bring friends who would also like to donate!

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support!
