Noah Sanger, our LLS Honored Hero

Jan 21, 2020

Now I am fighting for Noah Sanger, our LLS Honored Hero! Noah was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at the young age of four. Noah is incredibly strong to go through such invasive treatments. As a seven year old, Noah will soon have his final treatments and I am happy to think the success of his treatments were made possible by the work of an organization like LLS.

Over the course of Noah's three and a half years of treatment, he will have had 1,076 doses of chemo, 192 days of steroids and 20 spinal taps. Despite his treatments, Noah is an active 7 year old boy who enjoys learning and being creative. He loves hockey, soccer and being outside!

My 'Why'

Jan 18, 2020

I have been nominated as a candidate for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Students of the Year campaign. For seven weeks, starting January 18th, 2020, ending March 6th, high school students around the country will be raising awareness of the research, programs, and advocacy being conducted by LLS. We will also be raising funds to support their mission to cure blood cancers. I have 25 team members on my team and we have seven weeks to raise as much money as possible!

I got involved with this campaign because my cousin Lily, twenty, was diagnosed with stage four, Hodgkin’s Lymphoma last spring. It was the hardest pill for me to swallow. The news was absolutely heartbreaking as no one in my immediate family has been affected by cancer until now. While Lily has finished chemotherapy and is in remission, her cancer journey inspired me and I promised her I would do everything I could to fight cancer for others. Our team name is 'Lily’s Rays of Hope.’ Now I am fighting for Noah Sanger, our LLS Honored Hero! Noah was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at the young age of four. Noah is incredibly strong to go through such invasive treatments. As a seven year old, Noah will soon have his final treatments and I am happy to think the success of his treatments was made possible by the work of an organization like LLS.

Each dollar is a vote. The candidate team that raises the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named Student of the Year. Our mission is to not only raise the most money but also to bring attention to blood cancers like leukemia, which is the most common form of cancer in children and teens.

Since the early 1960s, five-year survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled or even quadrupled. And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are helping patients with other cancers and serious diseases. In fact, drugs first approved for blood cancers are now approved to treat patients with stomach cancers, skin cancers, and autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.

We really are changing the face of blood cancer!

All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS-funded research but will help provide critical information and support for patients, and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients can access the care and treatments they need.

Please visit our website often and bring friends who would also like to donate!

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support!
