Ian Ridlehoover | Making Waves

Ian's Students of the Year Fundraiser

Feb 21, 2021

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page, welcome!

My name is Ian Ridlehoover. I'm a junior at Appleton East High School in Appleton, WI. Throughout my whole life, I've loved to challenge myself, especially through swimming! I love to swim, and it's been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. That's why if my campaign reaches our goal of $50,000, I will SWIM ACROSS LAKE WINNEBAGO! It will be the longest swim I have ever done at TEN MILES!

Obviously, I can't do this alone, and I need YOUR help to reach my goal. If you are willing and able, please consider making a donation to this page. No donation is too small, and every single dollar we raise gets us closer to permanently ending blood cancer! If you are unwilling or unable to make a donation, please at least consider sharing this page or our social media pages (linked below) with your friends and family.

More information on LLS below:

As a global leader in the fight to end cancer, LLS is committed to doing more for blood cancer patients and families than any organization in the world. LLS’s signature fundraising campaigns drive critical support for its mission, including a nearly $1.3 billion investment in cutting edge cancer research worldwide since it was founded in 1949. Since the 1960s, survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled, or even quadrupled.

Every facet of LLS’s mission – research, education and support, and policy and advocacy – work in harmony to put blood cancer patients and their families first. LLS has helped millions impacted by cancer throughout its more than 70-year history, even funding breakthrough blood cancer research to advance lifesaving treatments and cures that is now helping patients with other cancers and diseases. That is why at LLS we say that beating cancer is in our blood.

Please visit my website as often as you can and share it with everyone you know who would also like to join us in the fight against cancer. Together, we CAN achieve a world without blood cancer. All donations are tax-deductible.

On behalf of cancer patients and their families everywhere, thank you so much for your support.

Ian, thanks for participating in this fundraiser for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). In 2016 I was diagnosed with MDS--Myelodysplastic Syndrome, sometimes known as pre-leukemia. I have no siblings and no good donor matches on the national registry. Luckily, prior to my needing a transplant, science and research had developed a way to conduct a transplant using your children's cells. My transplant was on June 30, 2017, and our older son was my donor. I will soon be a 4-year survivor. Thanks to research into Leukemia and Lymphoma, I am leading a happy, productive life...and enjoying every minute of it!!! Ellen Steger
