Lauren Broman | Speaking Out to Save Lives

Welcome to Lauren Broman's SOY Fundraising Page!

Jan 13, 2020

Hello, and thank you for visiting my fundrasing page for my Students of the Year (SOY) campaign.  My name is Lauren Broman, and I am currently a busy junior at Wrightstown High School.  In addition to being part of SOY, I am also involved in musical, one-act, FFA, FBLA, NHS, Battle of the Books, and Forensics - all of which I love doing and am very passionate for!  In fact, it's my involvement in these extracurriculars that gave my team its name - Speaking Out to Save Lives.

This year, I am honored to have been selected to be a candidate for the 2020 Students of the Year program, a seven-week initiative in which high school students like me participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). I am proud to be a candidate, and I am excited to learn about business in the real world as I work to raise critical dollars in honor of our young patient hero, Portia, a four-year-old girl from Kimberly who is nearly in remission from blood cancer. As part of the program, the candidate team that raises the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named Student of the Year, however, that is not my motivation in participating.  My mission is to not only raise as much money as I can but also to spread awareness of and help fufill the LLS's mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and myeloma, and help ease the burden on patients and their families.

While the LLS's mission is centered around blood cancers, its therapies are helping patients with other cancers and serious diseases, as well as blood cancer patients. In fact, drugs first approved for blood cancers are now approved to treat patients with stomach cancers, skin cancers, and autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.

All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They will not only support LLS-funded research but will help provide critical information and support for patients, and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients can access the care and treatments they need.

If you know anyone who has been affected by cancer or wants to make a difference in the life of someone who has, please send them the link to this website.  Every donation counts and is greatly appreciated!

On behalf of blood cancer patients, their families, and anyone who has ever had cancer affect someone they love, thank you for your support!

Best regards,

Lauren Broman

We have made so much progress in eliminating cancer and, I'm sure, there is not a single person who has not been affected by this horrible disease. Thank you for continuing the fight. Thank you, especially, for choosing a child, one of cancer's most tragic victims. Good luck!
