Welcome to my Fundraising Page!
My name is Tip Hogerty. I am a sophomore at St. Mary Catholic High School in Neenah, Wisconsin. Anyone who knows me knows that I am very competitve guy. As a runner in both cross country and track, I have won many medals and broke mulitple records. Over the next seven weeks, I will be running in my most important race - the race to find a cure for blood cancer!
This year I am privileged to be nominated as a candidate for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) 2019 Student of the Year Campaign. Over a 7 week period, (March 22-May 16), I have set a goal to raise $20,000 to help cure blood cancers!
Please join me today in support of this campaign and LLS’s mission in its efforts to find cures for blood cancers and to assist patients and families as they battle leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease or myeloma.
While I was in elementary school, in a small class of 18 students, I saw firsthand the toll cancer takes. I was in first grade when two of my good friends were both diagnosed with cancer. Three years later, when I was in fourth grade, one of my friends lost his mother to cancer.
My team's mission is to not only raise the most money but also to bring attention to blood cancers like leukemia, which is the most common form of cancer in children and teens. In Wisconsin, the rate of blood cancer is higher than most states. Every year, over 3,000 people in Wisconsin are diagnosed with blood cancer. Over 20,000 people in Wisconsin are currently living with blood cancer. Neenah's Grace Espersen is one of these survivors. She was 2 when she was diagnosed with leukemia. After treatment, Grace is doing great and is the 2019 Student of the Year Campaign's Honored Hero. I am excited to be able to have a chance to celebrate this tough little girl.
Since the early 1960s, five-year survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled or even quadrupled. And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are helping patients with other cancers and serious diseases. In fact, drugs first approved for blood cancers are now approved to treat patients with stomach cancers, skin cancers, and autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.
All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS-funded research but will help provide critical information and support for patients, and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients can access the care and treatments they need.
Please visit my website often and bring friends who would also like to donate! You can also help me by spreading the word on social media! Also, you could double your donation! Does your company have a matching gifts program that might match your personal contribution? Find out: https://www.lls.org/lls-matching-gift-form
Thank you for running alongside me in THE race!
