I’m Lena Galante and I am a senior at Williamsville South High School. Last year, I was asked to be a part of this campaign, which at the time, I did not know much about. Although I do not have a personal connection to a loved one who has had a type of blood cancer, I have friends and family who have battled other forms of cancer. Throughout my involvement last year, I learned that this program truly helps benefit cancer patients. It provides education about blood cancers and supports families who are devastated by this disease. I am choosing to continue my involvement in the campaign this year, as a Team Candidate, because I believe it is a worthwhile cause. In being a part of this campaign I am not only a part of the solution but I am able to learn valuable skills such as compassion, empathy, teamwork and leadership. My campaign will provide support to the critical work of LLS in hopes that one day no one will have to grow up without the ones they love. I know that with your help, I can reach my goal and make a direct impact in the fight against blood cancers. Any amount donated is appreciated! ❤️🤍

I have signed up to save lives with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and am working to raise as much as possible over the next 7 weeks. Every dollar raised counts as one vote for my campaign. The candidate(s) whose team tallies the most votes earns the prestigious title of Student or Students of the Year. Will you help me earn that title?
 
As you know, everyone wins when cancer loses. Thanks to your support, my efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers.
 
Many LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS-funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.
 
We really are getting close to our goal of a world without blood cancers!
