Every single person is affected by cancer. Whether you’ve had it or someone you’ve known has, it affects your life. It impacts communities, families, individuals and our world every single day. It causes fear to engulf you even if you’re not the one it’s chosen to live in. Just the chance of getting it causes fear. Think about how it feels to fear because of the possibility of it, now think of the people who actually have it or are in remission. They are constantly filled with fear that this evil will take them, or they are scared of the possibility of it coming back. When we have fear inside us, we look for comfort. The comfort they look for is that one day cancer will be gone, that there will be a cure. Help me give comfort to those filled with fear, by donating to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Blood cancers are the easiest to research, the things they find through their research of these cancers lead to a cure for all cancer. Join me in helping comfort those fighting the biggest battle of their lives.

Meaning to the Team Name

Feb 16, 2019
After many ideas of team names I chose #GOfindacure. G.O. are my initials which is where the idea first orginated. After continually reading the team name I realized the meaning and depth of it. Go, a two letter word with an extremely simple meaning, that most of us use when someone’s been sitting at a green light to long or most of us hear when we are told to do things. We are told to go clean the bathroom or feed the dog and we do it with no thought because it’s simple. In these instances it doesn’t matter how you do it, all that matters is that you do it, but what if for now on every time we are told to do something we do it with meaning. You may ask how can I find meaning in cleaning a bathroom? Think instead I’m not cleaning this bathroom because I was told to but because it will in the long run keep me healthier. Why does any of this have to do with fundraising for cancer or a campaign teams name? Let me tell you. GO isn’t as simple as it’s meaning, there’s extreme depth to the two letter little word. I’m not the only person guilty of thinking of going to do something but just always saying I’m too busy, or making so many excuses. Instead now I’ve decided to really, truly GO, go make a difference, go change the world, go have an influence in someone’s life. I’ve been given so many opportunities that I never took, and it’s time that that changes. My GO is raising money to support those fighting the biggest battle of their lives. My heart is in to fully GOing to find a cure. What is your GO?

Welcome to Gracie Ohlson's SOY Fundraising Page!

Feb 01, 2019

I am honored to participate in the 2019 Students of the Year program, a seven-week initiative in which select high school students from around the country participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I am proud to be raising critical dollars in honor of a young patient hero who is currently battling or is in remission from a blood cancer. Each dollar is a vote. The candidate team that raises the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named Student(s) of the Year. Our mission is to not only raise the most money but also to bring attention to blood cancers like leukemia, which is the most common form of cancer in children and teens.

Since the early 1960s, five-year survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled or even quadrupled. And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are helping patients with other cancers and serious diseases. In fact, drugs first approved for blood cancers are now approved to treat patients with stomach cancers, skin cancers, and autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.

We really are changing the face of blood cancer!

All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS-funded research but will help provide critical information and support for patients, and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients can access the care and treatments they need.

Please visit our website often and bring friends who would also like to donate!

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support!

Thank you for being an advocate for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. My father passed away rom Leukemia, at the very young age of 46, I was only 13. Growing up I realize how young he was and how much I miss him. Thank you Gracie, my hope for the future is to find a cure, or at least extend the lives of those so dear to us. ??
