2024 is going to be a great year! We have the privilege of being nominated as a candidate for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) 2024 Virginia Student Visionaries of the Year campaign. Student Visionaries of the Year is a seven-week leadership development program for high school students that runs from February 20th to April 12th to raise money to help blood cancer patients not only survive but thrive after treatment.  We are asking for your support of LLS’s mission to find a cure for blood cancers and improve the quality of life for patients. This cause is personal for us and our families.  

I have created a team of committed friends and family to partner with me on this journey. Together, we have set a fundraising goal of $36,000!  The money raised helps LLS, the largest nonprofit dedicated to creating a world without blood cancers, fund research to advance lifesaving treatments, drive advocacy for policies that protect patient access to these treatments, and provide patients and families with hope, guidance, education and support. Our team is particularly passionate about the fact that LLS has invested more than $1.5 billion in cancer research since 1949, leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics, and personalized medicine that are improving and saving patients’ lives. We will be representing this area of the LLS mission during our campaign. 

LLS is funding research through The Children’s Initiative to develop safer, less toxic treatments designed specifically for children and adolescents. Currently, 80% of childhood cancer survivors develop 1 or more chronic health conditions as a result of treatment. My campaign will provide support to the critical work of LLS in hopes that one day no one will have to grow up without the ones they love and patients not only survive but thrive in their lives after cancer. We know that with your help, we can reach our goal and make a direct impact in the fight against blood cancers. 

All donations received will support LLS’s overall mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
