Dear Friends and Family,

I am so excited and honored to be a candidate for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's 2020 Students of the Year fundraiser, and it means so much to me that you are willing to contribute to such an incredible cause. My friend Evie and I are leading team Cure$aders and we have been working hard to plan how we can achieve our collective goal of  $30,000. Although this is a large number, with the support and donations of our friends and community, we feel we can be successful. Students of the Year is an opportunity to give back and change the life of someone who needs it the most. 

One of the reasons I am supporting LLS is because my dad has been successfully treated for blood cancer.  Although his recovery and outcome have been successful, there are others who are still fighting, and I want to help them. More than 1.2 million people are battling Leukemia, Hodgkin disease, and Myeloma, and every 3 minutes another person unknowingly joins the fight against blood cancer. With the money raised through Students of the Year, LLS helped 30,000 patients with their fight against blood cancer in just the past year alone. 

In addition, Evie and I are dedicating our efforts to the Student of the Year campaign’s honored hero, Becca Chamberlain. At 11 years old, Becca was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She takes weekly trips to the clinic for treatment, inhibiting her from attending school and doing normal kid activities. Nonetheless, this has not put a damper on Becca’s optimism towards fighting cancer, and her courage continually inspires me to fight for a cure for blood cancers.  

For the next seven weeks, from January 16th to March 7th, Evie and I will be working hard to raise awareness and achieve our fundraising goal. It would mean so much to us to know we have your support towards the lifesaving work of LLS. Throughout these next seven weeks, I am confident we can make a difference in the battle against blood cancers!
