Welcome to Ethan's Katz for a Cure SOY Fundraising Page!

Jan 13, 2020

I'm Christy Porter and I'm am excited to be a member of Ethan Burk's Katz for a Cure team raising money to wipe out blood cancers.  Our team is part of the national LLS Students of the Year program, a seven-week initiative in which select high school students from around the country participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  Ethan's Katz for a Cure campaign will raise critical dollars for academic and clinical research and patient support.  Each dollar donated advances the mission of LLS, which has raised $1.3 billion for basic and applied research, and translational  medicine. LLS is currently funding $188 million in multi-year projects to end lymphoma, leukemia, myeloma, and related cancers.  LLS also funds awareness and education campaigns, programs for patient travel, treatment co-pays, and other needs.

The candidate whose team raises the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named the LLS 2020 Student of the Year, but more importantly, each donation brings us closer to cures for blood cancers like leukemia. Since the early 1960s, five-year survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled or even quadrupled. Many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are helping patients with other cancers and serious diseases. In fact, drugs first approved for blood cancers are now approved to treat patients with stomach cancers, skin cancers, and autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.

All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax-deductible.   Please visit our website often and bring friends who would also like to donate!

On behalf of blood cancer patients and their loved ones everywhere, thank you for your support!
