Noah's Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser
Hello, My name is Noah Goodson and I am a Senior at Shenendehowa High School. I am taking on an important endeavor. I am representing the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Student Visionaries of Year Campaign. I believe in the value of giving back and helping to bring light to those who are less fortunate than me. This campaign is so critical in the mission of LLS, to cure blood cancers and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
I have family members who have passed away from blood cancer, I also lost both of my grandfathers to cancer and a family friend passed away recently from a brain tumor and this was so incredibly difficult for everyone, most importantly her family. She was a wonderful person and we all miss her so much. She will never get to see her children grow up and this makes me very sad. I never had the opportunity to meet my grandfather's as a result of them passing away before I was born. My parents share with myself and my brother how special they were and I wish I had the chance to meet them.
My goal is to raise money for blood cancer, every little bit makes a diiference and that is my goal, to help contribute anything I can to bring light into other people's lives. LLS focuses on 3 main pillars: Advocacy, Patient Education and Support, and Research. My team has decided to focus on Patient Support and Education because we share in the drive to make a difference in the lives of patients and families. LLS plays such a integral role in providing support, education and guidance for patients and families so they do not face cancer alone.
Did you know that LLS is the leading source of free information, education and support patients wirh blood cancer, survivors, caregivers, families and healthcare professionals. Last year alone, LLS Information Specialists responded to 25,000 inquiries from patients and caregivers. LLS is committed to addressing gaps in cancer outcomes and healthcare that disproportionately impact people of color, rural communities, and other underserved populations. Black Americans have at least double the incidence of myeloma as any ther race or ethnicity, and recent studies show they face additional barriers and lower acccess to care.
LLS knows how challenging it can be for the furture during or after cancer treatments. Hospital stays and interruptions in school may mean pausing education goals. The high cost of cancer care can make affording higher education diificult-but LLS gives these families hope. LLS created the LLS Scholarship for Blood Cancer survivors so pediatric blood cancer survivors can chase their dreams!!!
Help me find a cure for cancer by donating to my campaign from January 16th to March 6th.
Visionaries look to the future—and see infinite possibility.
They challenge the status quo—and make the impossible possible.
They boldly imagine a better world – and lead the charge to create it.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society was built on that same vision - of a better world - one without blood cancers.
I am a visionary; I have a vision for a world without cancer, but I need your help.
This year, I’m proud to be a part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, working to raise as much as possible for LLS’s mission.
As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:
- Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients
- Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.
- Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.
Please consider joining this fight by making a donation. All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!
Thanks to your support, my efforts will help ensure this generation is the last to see cancer.
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you!

My father suffered & died from Myelodysplastic anemia, a form of blood cancer. He was not diagnosed early enough to get a stem cell transplant & lived his last 2 years getting blood transfusions twice a week. This was 25 years ago. I hope & pray there has been research done since then to prevent & manage these diseases better.

So admire the work you are doing! So many people need additional help, financially & emotionally, when they are going through treatment for cancer. By getting involved with this fund-raiser, you are showing them that you really do care about them and want to help. Such a wonderful contribution to the patient community.
