Student Visionaries of the Year Houston
Luke Beasley | Team More Than 4
Luke's Student Visionaries of the Year Houston Fundraiser
Over the last 7 weeks, I have been apart of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Student Visionaries of the Year program and have tried to reach my goal of $25,000 by raising money for childhood cancer research in honor of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia survivor Drew Carroll!
A few of my teammates and Friends. From Left to Right: Bo Caraway, Catherine Herold, Dylan Rostron, AJ Canton, Demi deSola, Kyndall Riepe, Me, Annabrooke Farque, and Chris Fallon.
My group of 18 friends, team MoreThan4, was able to raise $514,732 and take home 1st place in the Houston Chapter!! This name originated from the 4% of funding from the National Cancer Institute that is given to children, which was our whole reason for doing this, the LACK of funding!!
I was blown away by the 300+ people who contributed to my campaign who helped me smash my goal and help me raise $55,000!!
Gave a short speech on the family I have been able to be apart of since LLS. You can find this speech on my YouTube channel or at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-fVSpMw-QQ

Another huge thank you to Alyssa Parrish, Meredith Rice, Laura Lewis, Michelle Dubiski, and Scott Gildea for helping me pave the way and boosting me up!
Accepted my 50k club certificate!
And to the Carroll Family, thank you for allowing me to ride along this journey with all of you.
This opportunity is one I will always look back on and remember. Introducing me to the LLS family and having this HUGE network of people by my side will forever be cherished.
Pictured with Alyssa Parissh, one of my biggest mentors throughout the whole campaign. The wall behind showcasing the Houston Total!
The Houston chapter raised a total of $2,781,094 (which is a new record!) and all these funds go to help fight blood cancer whether it is for research, advocacy, or patient Support!!
Again, I cannot thank everyone enough for contributing, large or small, to help fund the fight!
Until There's A Cure, Luke BeasleyDylan Carroll and I after she found out she won. The several amazing donors also pictured who were able to help us fill over 70 seats at the Gala.
My WHY
I have been selected to participate in a leadership development program to help more than 1.2 million Americans who are living with blood cancer. My campaign team, More Than 4 , and I are competing in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year campaign! We recently kicked off our 7-week journey to help LLS raise money and achieve its mission: to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
This mission is important to me personally because of a family friend, Drew Carroll. I know Drew's family after meeting her big sister Dylan freshman year of high school. After quickly becoming friends, I met the whole family and heard about her sister, Drew. I knew I would someday need to find a way to help but why? How? All the heartbreaking stories that Dylan had told me tore me apart. One story that sticks out is when Dylan was with Drew and her dad in the car and they got the call. Dylan would be needed to get dropped off at her grandparents and Drew would be admitted to the hospital. Over a week later, without seeing Drew or her parents, Dylan got to see Drew. Drew looked different than Dylan had remembered and this hurt Dylan. There had to be a way to raise awareness for this! This year Dylan invited me to join her team and I'm so glad she did. God called me to do my part and help this disease that is often overlooked during budgeting. Not enough money is given to help these kids. The National Cancer Institute budgets 5 billion dollars and only 4% of that budget goes to childhood cancer. Because of the lack of funding for childhood cancer, Drew was given chemotherapy needed for adults. The effects this chemo has on Drew will continue to affect her as her body develops. 3 out of 4 children who have cancer, end up having life threatening illnesses by age 40. Drew and her family are my “why”. Believe it or not, Leukemia is the #1 form of childhood cancer. Now more than ever, we need to take initiative and shine light on this scary and deadly disease. I am fighting for kids like Drew! Will you help me make an impact?
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the largest donor to blood cancer research in the nation. They have invested over $1.6 billion in research and are leaders in advancing breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine. These revolutionary new treatments originally discovered through blood cancer research are now being tested in clinical trials for other cancers. While there has been phenomenal progress, there is still so much more to be done. Cancer is still one of the leading causes of death in children and young adults.
Our team goal is to raise $500,000 between January 11th and March 2nd, 2024. We are determined to achieve this goal and your contribution - large or small - would be so much appreciated! To donate online please visit my fundraising website by scanning the QR code below or simply scrolling above and click on the “Donate Today” link. The following link has specific donation instructions. You can also help me raise funds by inviting your friends, family and everyone in your networks to join us by making a donation. Aside from donations, we would love to hear from you or someone you know who would like to sponsor the Grand Finale on Saturday, March 2nd or other possible fundraising opportunities. I remember vividly sweet Drew’s battle. I prayed for this little girl I had never even met. Never did I think a family member would Go through this too. Well, my little cousin #teambree has been going through this cancer for 1 year. I feel that there is no better cause to support bc the lack of funding is horrible to say the least! I’m so happy to see Drew vibrantly loving life and and thankful God is making sure our girl is going to have the same positive path.
