Jackson's Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser

Jan 11, 2023

Hello and welcome to my fundraising page! I am very excited to have been nominated as a candidate in the 2023 Houston Student Visionaries of the Year (SVOY) fundraising campaign, a philanthropic leadership development program that raises funds to help the 1.3 million Americans living with leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. LLS is the largest donor to blood cancer  research in the nation, having invested over $1.5 billion.

Every three minutes someone in America is diagnosed with a blood cancer. Every nine minutes someone dies from one. Blood cancers are the third leading cause of cancer-related death in America and account for more than 40% of all childhood cancers. Most children are treated with toxic combinations of chemotherapies - treatments that have hardly changed since the 1960’s due to the lack of government funding. The goal of my campaign is to save as many people as possible, and to help raise as much money to find suitable treatments for children.

I am inspired by and dedicate my campaign to Emma Tabush, Shar Ron Aaron, and Nancy Grayson. Emma, LLS’s 2023 Honored Hero, was diagnosed with leukemia at only 18 months old. I’m excited to say that Emma is now 3-years old and just went into remission! Shar Ron Aaron was my grandmother’s best friend and business partner for 48 years. She fought lung cancer for many years but recently passed away. Nancy Grayson, also a friend of my grandmother, has battled and beat lymphoma 4 times. Thanks to research and innovative treatments funded by organizations like LLS, Ms. Grayson continues to be able to give back to our community!

I have assembled a dedicated group of friends and colleagues to form Team Cancer Crusaders. Together, our goal is to raise $140,000 during the 7-week campaign, which runs from Thursday, January 12th, until Saturday, March 4th, 2023. I cannot do this alone. I need your help. It would mean a lot to me if you would consider joining our fight and donate to our campaign. ANY amount is greatly appreciated. The money goes directly to LLS in support of its longstanding mission to find a cure for blood cancers and improve the quality of life of cancer patients and their families.

If you would prefer to mail your donation, kindly use the pre-addressed envelope. Please make your check payable to “The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society” and print “SVOY JACKSON SEMBRITZKY” in the memo portion of the check. The deadline for receiving contributions in the mail is March 1st. Please note: your donations are tax deductible.

You can also help me raise funds by inviting your friends, family, and others in your network to join us by making a donation. Aside from donations, we would love to hear from you or someone you know who would be willing to donate goods or services for auction items or other possible fundraising opportunities.

Thank you for helping be part of the cure and supporting my team. Please contact me at jacksemb01@gmail.com or 713-899-0982. For more information about LLS and SVOY, please go to https://www.llsstudentvisionaries.org/student-visionaries-year-houston.

Jackson's Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser

Oct 24, 2022

Visionaries look to the future—and see infinite possibility.
They challenge the status quo—and make the impossible possible.
They boldly imagine a better world – and lead the charge to create it.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society was built on that same vision - of a better world - one without blood cancers.

I am a visionary; I have a vision for a world without cancer, but I need your help.

This year, I’m proud to be a part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, working to raise as much as possible for LLS’s mission.

As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:

  • Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients
  • Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.
  • Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.

Please consider joining this fight by making a donation. All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!

Thanks to your support, my efforts will help ensure this generation is the last to see cancer.

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you!

Hi Jackson - Wow - congratulations on being chosen for this important task! My father-in-law was diagnosed with myeloma last year, so this cause is near and dear to my heart. He is on a recently approved medication that is helping a lot, so I know first-hand the importance of this kind of research. Thanks!

Dear Jackson, I am so so proud of you for leading such an important effort to help others in need! I remember Sharon very well. Your mom and I travelled to Amsterdam with her and your grandma some years ago and had such a blast. She was such a sweet person and I'll always remember her spark. Isabella and I send our love and look forward to seeing you, Sloane and the family soon. Lots of love, Aunt Christie <3

Jackson, you are an inspiration. I knew you would be. This donation is in honor of one of best friends who died of in 2020 at the age of 43; riddled with every cancer you can think of, starting with breast- then it metastasized to the brain, lymph, and blood. Alison was a light for all who knew her. Thank you for doing this. Sending you and your family lots of love.
