Coulson's Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser

Jan 17, 2023

For those that don't have time to read, this is a fundraiser in which 100% of the money raised will go to the largest nonprofit funder of cancer research in America. A world without cancer is a better world for everyone.

A while back, I read a quote by Voltaire that I found really inspiring- "Every man is guilty of all the good he didn't do." That struck a cord in me. Not that I feel as though I need to give everything I ever earn to charity and end world hunger; it merely inspired a desire in me to help society where I can. By no means am I the prince in Coming to America or or the son of J. Paul Getty, but I've been fairly fortunate in life. I was blessed with good health, a stable financial situation, and loving and caring family and friends. While that may not sound like a lot to some, to many it is. Here in America we're spoiled; we forget that there are places in the world (and even in some isolated areas within our own country) where people don't know if they're gonna be able to eat the next night. Which brings me to my point: As the saying goes, with great power comes great responsibility. How other people wish to live their life is their business, and I don't judge. But after hearing that quote I previously mentioned, I decided I needed to find a way I could give back to society. This is where that lead me.

I am running as a candidate in Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Student Visionaires of the Year Campaign. Basically what that means, is that I put a team together of 15 or so of my friends with the goal of raising as much money as possible to help those affected by the devastating thing that is blood cancer. Please support me and my team in hitting our goals, both for college aspirations- the scholarship opportunities could mean a lot for some members in my group, and just simply helping people out, because it really is a great cause. 100% of donations made through my page will go to LLS- which happens to be the largest nonprofit funder of blood cancer research in America, in which virtually every dollar goes to finding a cure.

For some context, as a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:

  • Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients
  • Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.
  • Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.

Please consider joining this fight by making a donation. All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!

Thanks to your support, my efforts will help ensure this generation is the last to see cancer- something I really think we all care about.

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you!
