Today, February 4th, is World Cancer Day. This day allows us to reflect on the advancement of cancer research and treatment. It is because of non-profits like the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society that we are able to celebrate so many cancer survivors and better imporve the quality of life for current cancer fighters. Hello and thank you for visiting my page! I can't believe we are hours away from kickoff! I am so proud to work with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Student Visionaries Of the Year Program. This program allows high school student led teams to get involved with blood cancer research and advocacy. I am returning from the winning team, Team Cancer Crushers, and I am ready to dominate blood cancer. Follow me along my journey as I highlight my mom, a proud breast cancer warrior, and our Honored Hero, Emma Tabush, a 3 year old girl from Cypress, TX who was diagnosed with a form of Leukemia and is now in remission. This mission is especially important to me personally because of my mom’s breast cancer diagnosis in Spring of 2021. Through her treatments I truly understood the toll cancer takes on a family. During my mom’s surgeries, I was asked to get involved with this wondrous organization that advocates and financially supports blood cancer fighters. I saw the impact they have on blood cancer warriors, their families, and survivors. I would later learn that through the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s fundraising partnerships with the Susan G. Komen Foundation as well as research that advanced mastectomies, which remove cancerous breast tissue, my mom would enter remission 6 months after her initial diagnosis. My aspiration is that no child will ever have to bear the worry of hearing their mom has cancer or worrying if their mom is going to be okay. I'm so thankful for this opportunity and am forever grateful to the Lord, my family, my team, and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
