Abby's Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser
The support we've received so far has been incredible, so thank you to everyone who's donated! I'm honored truly honored to be a canadite this year, but am even more proud to see first hand how family, friends, and strangers will support one another when in need. It is because of each one of you that steps towards a cure are being made. My favorite part of this campaign so far has been sharing stories with donors about their whys, i've even built new relationships through this cause. If you have a connection to this campaign, please don't hesitate to reach out. Let's keep up this fight and help mroe people everyday. Until there's a cure.
Abby's Students of the Year Fundraiser
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the largest donor to blood cancer research in the nation. They have invested over $1.5 billion in research and are leaders in advancing breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics, and personalized medicine. While there has been phenomenal progress, there is still so much more to be done. My campaign provides an opportunity to support the critical work of LLS in combating these diseases.
This mission is especially important to me because of my Aunt Carmen. Carmen is one of those people who everyone admires, she lights up any room she walks in and simply radiates life. She is selfless and kind too, but more than anything, she is the backbone of my family. She embodies strength and inspires me to become a successful woman like herself. Carmen was diagnosed in 2010, with one of the most lethal blood cancers, Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML); unlike most blood cancers, AML treatment has had little advancement in the past four decades. Fighting for your life is a journey like no other, and after fighting through three unsuccessful attempts at chemo Carmen needed a miracle. Granted in the form of a stem cell transplant, Carmen was gifted the opportunity to keep living. Now, many years later, my Aunt Carmen is a healthy Acute Myeloid Leukemia survivor. In honor of my Aunt Carmen's journey, I have assembled Team Cavs For A Cure to help me fight the battle against AML and other blood cancers. I am honored to lead my team through this experience and am excited to push toward our goal of raising $100,000 during the 7-week program.
