When Cancer Loses, We All Win!
Hello all, the campaign is off and running and has been such a fun and amazing experience so far. I know Boat Billy has got a huge smile on his face up above! Just wanted to remind everyone about our goal of raising $150,000 towards the fight against blood cancers, and cancer in general. The Houston Astros Foundation has been such a blessing and partner in this experience. Please see below for the incentives for helping fight cancer. From Boat Billy and myself, we want to say thank you so much!
Canes4TheCure!
I have been selected to participate in a leadership development program to help more than 1.2 million Americans who are living with a blood cancer. My campaign team, Canes4TheCure, and I are competing in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Students of the Year campaign! We recently kicked off our 7-week journey to help LLS raise money and achieve its mission: to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
LLS is the largest donor to blood cancer research in the nation. They have invested nearly $1.3 billion in research, and are leaders in advancing breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics, and personalized medicine. These revolutionary new treatments originally discovered through blood cancer research are now being tested in clinical trials for other cancers. While there has been phenomenal progress, there is still so much more to be done. Cancer is still one of the leading causes of death in children and young adults.
I lost my grandfather, Boat Billy, to cancer and I want to honor him with this campaign. Losing my Grandpa was crushing, but I will always remember him teaching me the value of hard work. He was such an inspiration to me, and I miss him dearly. As a 16-year-old student, there aren’t many ways that I can help fight cancer. It is important to me to do what I can to help end cancer and this campaign and nomination presents this opportunity! With family friends that have also lost their own battles with blood cancers, I am full speed ahead in raising money to fight.
Our team goal is to raise $150,000 between now and March 5th, 2022. We are determined to achieve this goal and your contribution - large or small - would be so much appreciated!
Aside from donations, we would love to hear from you, or someone you know, who would be willing to donate goods or services for auction items, sponsorships, ads, or other possible fundraising opportunities. Large or small, your contribution to this worthy effort will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for considering our request and helping our team truly make a difference for so many people.
