Hana El Nemr | Bee the Cure

Hana's Students of the Year Fundraiser

Jan 21, 2022

Hello All,

My name is Hana El Nemr and I am a Senior at Perrysburg High School. My best friend Bella Aromas and I are running as candidates for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Students of the Year 2021 Campaign. In the next 7 weeks, teams across the country have been competing to raise the most money for LLS. The kick-off date is on January 21st, 2022, and the finale falls on March 11th, 2022.

As a candidate leading our mainly Perrysburg Yellow Jacket bound team “Bee the Cure”, I will be working to aid in raising the funds necessary to benefit the growing community of people affected by Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and Myeloma. Finding cures for these blood cancers will take every bit of help that we can get, and we are calling out to you to join the fight of a lifetime.

I am immensely passionate about fighting alongside LLS because the devastation that cancer brings along is an aspect of life that hits close to home for me. Within one month of his diagnosis, my grandfather’s brother died of Lymphoma. While I was pardoned from witnessing the effects that it had on him firsthand, my family’s recollection of his extended and painful death is an image that I hold close to my heart when furthering my efforts.

Every three minutes, someone in the U.S. is diagnosed with blood cancer. Each charitable dollar you contribute makes us one dollar closer to giving families the relief that they have long desired. One hundred percent of the funds we raise as a group go directly to LLS in support of its longstanding mission to cure Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and Myeloma and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Additionally, LLS is going beyond aiding in the fight against blood cancer. Of the 39 new cancer-fighting drugs approved by the FDA in the past 10 years, 19 were initially developed for blood cancers, many of which were given funding from LLS. All 19 of these drugs show promise for treating cancers and diseases outside of blood cancer such as lung, brain, breast, pancreatic, and prostate cancers, Diabetes Rheumatoid Arthritis, and MS.

This is one of the biggest fights our nation will ever see, and we need everyone’s help in fighting it. Please join us to help support the efforts of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society by making a donation in any amount, for every bit helps. Our tenacious, yet capable campaign goal over this seven-week campaign is $15,000 with a stretch goal of $20,000 and all donations must be received by March 11, 2022.

In addition to this webpage, you can make a tax-deductible donation by writing a check made payable to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (please write “SOY Hana El Nemr” in the memo line). Please mail all check donations to me at 14544 Wood Creek Court, Perrysburg, OH 43551.

Remember, no amount is too small in the grand scheme of fighting cancer! On behalf of my team, cancer patients, and families everywhere, I sincerely thank you for your support! Welcome to the team!

With much love,

Hana El Nemr

These blood cancers have taken and impacted the lives of so many of my friends and family. These are relentless and horrible diseases that spare no one from the very young to the healthiest and strongest among us. We need advances in treatment and ultimately a cure for these cancers.
