Hi y'all, 

Here's an update on our first week of SOY! Our team - the "Leukemia Crushers" - was able to raise $10,000! We're making AMAZING progress towards reaching our ultimate goal of $50K, and it's all thanks to generous people like you. We're taking strides towards a cure for cancer, and I'm looking forward to meeting more of you!!

Why should YOU support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS)? 

• About every 3 minutes, someone in the U.S is diagnosed with blood cancer.

• More than 1/3 of these people do not survive the diagnosis.

• LLS changes 1.2 million lives through their research.

• They have funded 230 research grants and invested 1.2 billion dollars in cancer research since 1949.

• Blood cancer research also helps find cures for other cancers and diseases such as diabetes and breast cancer. 

Although these numbers describe hope and inspiration born from the struggles of cancer, they only tell one story. The people behind these numbers, from the 178,520 people across the country battling leukemia, lymphoma, or myeloma to the LLS staff working tirelessly to give hope to the millions of friends of family by researching for a cure for cancer, are the spine holding this story together. As a candidate for Student of the Year and part of our team, "Leukemia Crushers," I'm proud to stand up to one of the most nefarious foes that's in our midst - cancer. I'm counting on wonderful people like you to donate & join our story to help MORE individuals like Kabir, an ALL survivor:

Hi! I'm Rohan Lingam, a freshman at Bellarmine College Prep, and I'm jazzed to be working with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and their Students of the Year program! I'm an avid speech-and-debater at Bellarmine, where I compete in policy debate and national extemp. In my free time, when I'm not trying to run away from my demonic little sister (just kidding - I love you, Sameera), I love hiking, biking, and coding (Python is the best language, & you can't say otherwise). Moreover, I love mentoring younger kids in addition to learning about new cultures. I also want to promote more conversations about diversity and inclusion within our communities!
