We are honored to participate as a team for the 2020 Students of the Year program, a seven-week initiative in which select high school students from around the country participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We are proud to support as candidates and are raising critical dollars in honor of a young patient hero who is currently battling or is in remission from a blood cancer. Each dollar is a vote. The candidate team that raises the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named Student of the Year. Our mission is to not only raise the most money but also to bring attention to blood cancers like leukemia, which is the most common form of cancer in children and teens.

Often, many of us hear about the tragedies of patients dealing with various cancers and the pain that they go through. However, most of us are not able to take action regarding this issue as we not only lack the ability to do so, but also do not have the knowledge to treat it. As students, we found ourselves facing this same problem and wanted to do something to change that. After learning about cancer and the suffering caused by treatments such as chemotherapy, we realized how much pain cancer patients have to go through, and no one should have to go through that much pain. That’s why we wanted to take part in this campaign and raise money for blood cancer. There are endless possibilities of how the money we raise can make a difference and enrich the lives of not only cancer patients, but also support their families. Through this campaign, we have the remarkable and rare opportunity to help the lives of those affected during and after the diagnosis of these deadly diseases.
