Who am I and What am I Doing?

I am Pranav Aida, a Freshman in Evergreen Valley High School. I am honored to be nominated to participate in the 2019 Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Students of the Year fundraising competition, and I represent Team Cure Creators.

This campaign is a 7 week initiative that starts on January 11th and ends on March 2nd. In this competition, 18 high school teams in the Bay Area compete by raising funds for blood cancer research.

What is LLS?

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the world’s largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer whose mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, and Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma.

Why are we doing this?

Leukemia is the most common cancer in children and in teens. Blood cancer has affected over 170,000 people in 2018 alone and the numbers won’t stop there.

We need to stop it here and now. Every 3 seconds someone in the United States is diagnosed with a blood cancer and every 9 minutes someone from the U.S.A. dies from blood cancer.

But ....

LLS's continued advancements over the years are responsible for the blood cancer survival rate doubling and tripling, and even quadrupling. Many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers. So blood cancer research is helping save more than a million Americans who are fighting a daily battle with blood cancer.
