I am taking part in the LLS 2019 SOY campaign. The candidate team that raises the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named Student(s) of the Year. Our mission is to not only raise the most money but also to bring attention to blood cancers like Leukemia, which is the most common form of cancer in children and teens.

LLS offers many things to patients, including treatment and cures. Their mission is to find a cure for Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and Myeloma and in fact to improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS has invested 1.2 billion dollars in research to find cures. LLS is also a leader in advancing new discoveries in immunotherapy, genomics, and medicine. These new treatments are also being used to treat other cancers. LLS is funding most of the treatments for cancer today.

I am proud to be raising critical dollars in honor of a young patient hero who is currently battling or is in remission from a blood cancer. Each dollar is a vote. Since the early 1960s, five-year survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled or even quadrupled. And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are helping patients with other cancers and serious diseases. In fact, drugs first approved for blood cancers are now approved to treat patients with stomach cancers, skin cancers, and autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.

It's my turn to help. I need everyone to help and donate, because we want to make an impact and be remembered. We need everyone's help to reach/exceed our goal of $25000. $25000 might feel like a very exorbitant goal but with everyone's support we can achieve it.

We really are changing the face of blood cancer!
